Cooperative Organization & Management

According to James A.F Stoner, the organization is a tool to achieve the goals. In cooperatives, these tools consist of three role, there are meetings of members, administrators and supervisors. The role have a different task but its related to each other. The meeting of members is the highest authority in charge of establishing cooperative policies. The management is in charge of managing cooperative business activities. Supervisors are the authorize part to observe the implementation of cooperative policies and management of cooperatives.

A side from organizations, cooperatives need management to achieve their goals. H. Gophar said that cooperative management is basically explored from three perspectives, there are organization, process and style. Based on the organization's perspective, cooperatives are formed from three elements, that isi members, managers and employees. Based on a process perspective, cooperative management carries out democracy in decision making. Based on the style point of view, cooperative management actively places members to manage and control the cooperative business.

The function of the organization and management is expected to help cooperatives achieve their goals. The completeness of organizational tools determines whether cooperative organizations and management can be held effectively and efficiently. The weak organization and management of cooperatives will adversely affect the development of cooperative businesses. Conversely, if the cooperative organization and management runs effectively and efficiently the impact will be great on the development of cooperative business. Thus, the organization and management of cooperatives is the key to the success of cooperative businesses.
